NIC Conference: 2018


For this 25th anniversary, we would like to invite reflections and thoughts on where intercultural communication is going and how it can be defined in the coming years.

We open the call for presentations and paper proposals related, but not limited, to the following themes:

  • Decolonial, postcolonial, and colonial residue in intercultural communication and negotiations concerning constructions of cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic identities and identity hybridities
  • Critical perspectives on theories and practice related to the field of intercultural communication, competency development in education and workplace contexts
  • Processes and strategies for initiating, maintaining, and furthering inter/cross/intragroup interaction or research
  • 21st Century skills: The identification and development of needed/required skills for navigating across constructions of difference and culture in the 21st century. Emerging challenges for intercultural communication research

Presentation proposals follow an abstract format of 300 -500 words, including references. Group proposals should also be approximately 300-500 words, including rationale, proposed participants as well as their individual contribution.

The submission system will open June 1, 2018; submission deadline until 22nd  October, 2018.
