Bursaries information

Bursaries opportunities and application procedure

We are pleased to say that thanks to the joint support offered by the Carlsberg Foundation and COST to the conference, we are able to offer approximately 20 bursaries to attendees whose abstract has been accepted.

There are two different types of bursaries available:

  1. A financial contribution of up to 500 Euro to cover for accommodation, travel expenses, and conference fee, which will be reimbursed after the conference and upon submission of receipts (the reduced conference fee will be automatically deducted from this).
  2. Fee-waiver only bursaries

Both these bursaries are aimed at attendees who would otherwise find it financially difficult to attend the conference, and who, in line with our funders’ specifications, should fit in one of the following categories:

  • A) Outstanding PhD student
  • B)Early Career researcher (up to 4 years after the award of PhD)
  • C) Other attendees with an accepted abstract

In order to apply for the bursaries, please send Dr Isabel Crowhurst a two-page word document including:

  1. Applicant’s name, address and email
  2. Specification of which bursary is being applied for: either a) financial contribution or b) fee-waiver
  3. The abstract that was accepted for the conference
  4. An explanation (approximately 500 words) of why the bursary is needed, and whether other sources of support can be sought or have already been obtained.
  5. A one-page CV

The deadline for submission of bursaries is December 28th 2016. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by December 30th 2016. This will leave enough time to register (registration ends on January 10th 2017)
