How to Do Things with Art PhD course 11 November 2015

As a way of facilitating a Nordic network for process and affect studies, we will host a PhD course on the day before the conference, 11 November 2015. This course will be an opportunity for junior scholars to debate new theoretical formations and burgeoning critical approaches. Through a critical debate with Erin Manning, Brian Massumi, and Frederik Tygstrup, as well as other participants, the candidates will be provided with an environment for reflecting on their own approaches and theories.

To facilitate discussion over presentation, every candidate is asked to submit a maximum of five pages prior to the course. The purpose of this paper is to relate the candidate’s methods and approaches to those of the master class professors. For this reason, we have made a bibliography of the fundamental issues, and there is also a recommended bibliography, to inspire the candidates further. The candidates will be have 5 minutes to present their paper on the course, followed by a 15-20 minutes discussion.

Deadline for submitting papers for the PhD course is 12 October 2015. All papers will be shared via a shared Dropbox-folder.

Candidates that present a paper on the course and read the titles on the bibliography are awarded 1 ECTS.
