The Covid-19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the tourism sector and constitutes a huge external shock to all European tourism regions.
25.10.2021 kl. 13.00 - 15.00
An academic literature on post-pandemic tourism is already beginning to emerge and early contributions are primarily speculative reflections on potential tourism futures, ranging from the dystopian to the transformational. But how does the future of tourism regions in Europe look when you ask tourism and regional development practitioners?
We have surveyed and interviewed destination management organisations in six European countries – Italy, Denmark, England, Spain, Sweden and Austria – in order to understand the short term impact of the pandemic and the responses by public and private tourism stakeholders, as well as the prospects for longer term strategic changes.
At this event, hosted by the Regional Studies Association Regions Cities Industry Webinar Series, the project team will present findings findings from our research, followed by a panel session with European practitioners who will discuss pandemic experiences and the future of tourism regions in Europe.
The webinar is free of charge. More information and sign up on the RSA website:
