new full professor in cfu: historian of education christian ydesen
On Friday April 29, Ydesen held his inaugural lecture in front of an audience of 50 people in-person and another 15 participants online. The lecture was titled: ”Restoring Research in Education - Paradigms, Governing Complexes, Emancipation”. The newly minted professor (since Janauary 1, 2022) talked about three major paradigms in education politics and how his concept 'government complex' should be understood and could be used. He offered insights into his own research practice as well as suggesting paths ahead for emancipatory research.
The Head of Department for Culture and Learning, Keld Thorgård, welcomed guests to the reception following the lecture. He highlighted how Ydesen has been a great asset for the department and celebrated his helpful and producitve demeanor. Head of CfU, professor and fellow historian Mette Buchardt, followed with a speech for her long-time colleague and friend reminiscing their time together as young associate professors and poking fun at their mutual fondness for the Roman Empire.
