German summer school
In August 2025, Aalborg Universitet offers a Summer School for 2 – 10 semester students who want to improve their German language skills, either because they consider doing an internship in Germany, Switzerland or Austria, or because they wish to cooperate with German companies or organizations in a study project, or because they intend so seek employment in a German speaking country after graduating.
The Summer School will take place 18 – 22 August 2025 at Kroghstræde 3, 9220 Aalborg Øst. It includes five days of teaching with six hours per day.
The teaching is handled by Associate Professor Mirjam Gebauer.
Admission requirements
German at high school or passed exam in a German intensive language course at AAU.
Application
Please apply no later than 14 June by filling out the application form (first come – first served).
There must be a minimum of 10 participants, and there can be a maximum of 45 students for the Summer School to be carried out. You will be notified of admittance no later than 23 June.
Further information
Participants are awarded a certificate as documentation for completing the course. To get the certificate, you must have actively participated in at least 80% of the teaching.
The Summer School is free of charge.

German courses in the fall semester 2025
This Fall 2025 we offer the following courses for students 2-10 semester at campus Aalborg:
- German intensive language course (oral)
- German intensive language course (written)
German Language course - oral
- Introduction to culture, history, and traditions of German-speaking countries
- Knowledge of German pronunciation and exercises
- Oral vocabulary exercises (amongst others specialized language according to the needs of the participants)
- Conversation skills training (everyday conversations and small talk, academic discussions and argumentation)
- Training in professional presentation techniques
- Knowledge of the German employment market and organizational culture.
German language course - written
- Introduction to written genres, e.g. application, CV, and e-mail
- Training in written communication and vocabulary exercises
- Knowledge of German grammar through e-lectures and exercises
- Training in reading written texts, e.g. user manuals, newspapers, academic texts
- Introduction to methods and tools: e.g. professional language reference work, vocabulary training, and translation that can help you work further with your specific field
- If necessary, assistance in the contact with relevant German-speaking internships or study places and the possibility of support during exchange, study trips and internships.
The teachers are senior researchers from Aalborg University.
Admission requirements
German at high school level or passed exam in a German intensive language course at AAU.
1st semester students cannot participate, but will get the chance to sign up for a language course in the spring semester 2025.
Cost, course start and place
The courses are free of charge and will start Tuesday 16th September 2025 (week 38) and run for 8 Tuesdays from 18.15-20.00 and in the weekend 4th-5th October from 09.00-15.00.
Each student can only sign up for one course each semester.

Please apply no later than 5th September by filling in the application form below (first come – first served).
50 students will be admitted for each of the two courses on the basis of their German competencies.
