The book describes and analyses the educational activities in the refugee camps for the German refugees, who came to Denmark at the end of the Second World War, and were housed in refugee camps across the country. The book is based on different empirical material such as archival materials, memories from refugees and descriptions from people who were involved in these activities.
In 1945 a Refugee administration was founded and with that an Education Committee. In the book the authors investigate which persons who sat in the committee, which ideas their work was based upon, the plans they formulated, how these plans were brought into practice, and what challenges they faced in the process.
Such experiences are still relevant today and give rise to reflections on the situation in many refugee camps today.
The book is for free at AAU open.
